HIOKI Activates 200kW Rooftop Solar Power System at Ueda Factory II As part of Company-Wide Push Toward Carbon Neutrality

Rooftop system supplies up to 30 percent of factory's electricity, nearly 100 percent on low-demand days

  • Solar power generation system newly installed on the roof of Hioki’s Ueda Factory II

Nagano, Japan, September 10th, 2026 - HIOKI E.E. Corporation (TSE: 6866) today announced that it has begun operating a new solar power generation system at its Ueda Factory II, part of the company's ongoing effort to reduce its environmental footprint.
The rooftop system comprises 415 solar panels installed across approximately 920 square meters, with a solar panel capacity of 200 kW and a power conditioner capacity of 150 kW. All electricity generated is used for on-site self-consumption.

Operational Performance

Ueda Factory II’s on-site power generation system, which began operation on June 17, 2026, currently supplies about 30% of the factory’s total electricity needs, rising to nearly 100 percent of all of the factory’s daytime power needs during periods of lower demand, such as weekends.
These preliminary figures, based on roughly two months of performance data, may vary by season, weather, and operating conditions. The company has not yet estimated annual power generation or annual CO2 reduction.

Supporting A More Sustainable Society

Hioki established its Sustainability Basic Policy and the Hioki Sustainability Declaration in February 2022, setting targets to achieve carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2025, the company's 90th anniversary, and for Scope 3 emissions by 2035, its 100th anniversary. In 2025, the company achieved carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions through third-party verified investments.
The Ueda Factory II installation builds on Hioki's broader push to expand renewable energy generation across its facilities.
The company completed construction of a 2 MW solar carport paired with a 2 MWh lithium-ion battery energy storage system at its Ueda headquarters in 2025. The carport is now providing the equivalent of approximately 40% of the site’s electricity demand, and continues to serve as a testing platform for Hioki's electrical measurement and IoT-based energy management technologies.
Hioki plans to keep expanding its renewable energy and energy-saving efforts as part of its ongoing work toward the targets in its Sustainability Declaration.
