Hioki Earns CDP’s Highest “A” Rating for Supplier Engagement in Climate Leadership Assessment
HIOKI E.E. Corporation (TSE: 6866) has received the highest “A” rating in CDP’s 2025 Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA), placing Hioki among a select group of companies globally recognised for leadership in climate-related supply chain management. Hioki has been named to CDP’s “SEA Leaderboard,” which recognises organisations with outstanding initiatives to drive emissions reductions across their supply chains.
The CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment evaluates how companies address climate change beyond their own operations, assessing supplier collaboration, Scope 3 emissions management, target-setting, and governance. Ratings range from “A” to “D-” and are widely referenced by investors and major corporations in ESG investment decisions and procurement partner evaluations.
The recognition reflects Hioki’s multi-year commitment to reducing environmental impact across its entire value chain. In 2022, the company formalised this commitment through its “Basic Sustainability Policy” and “Hioki Sustainability Declaration,” which set out targets for CO₂ emissions reductions in collaboration with suppliers and business partners.
Said Yoshikazu Suyama, Managing Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer at Hioki:
“This recognition from CDP has encouraged us to deepen our collaboration with partners and stakeholders to further reduce environmental impact across the entire supply chain, as we contribute to the realization of a sustainable society. As a company supporting society through electrical measurement, Hioki recognizes its responsibility and mission to preserve a rich natural environment for future generations and to promote sustainable management.”
Hioki's CDP recognition builds on a significant milestone achieved earlier this year. In fiscal year 2025, the company achieved third-party verified carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and Scope 2 (market-based) emissions. FY2025 also marked the first time all applicable Scope 3 categories were subject to external verification. The figures underscore why supplier engagement is not incidental to Hioki's sustainability strategy but central to it.
Said Suyama:
“Our commitment to environmental stewardship is long-standing. Our long term environmental efforts have included working with local communities with a ‘Local Afforestation Program’, where we have planted 76,000 trees with local schools and public facilities in Nagano Prefecture, and participating in the ‘Forest Foster Parent Agreement’, taking on a formal stewardship role in the city’s local forests. The forest we first planted in 1988 when all our employees came together to plant 60,000 seedlings at our head office have grown into a forest of approximately 93,000, a symbol of the values that guide our sustainability work today.”
