Hioki Launches IEC 61000-4-7 and IEC 61000-4-15 Compliant Harmonics/Flicker Measurement Optional License for PW4001 Power Analyzer
Hioki Power Analyzer PW4001 Adds IEC 61000-4-7 Compliant Harmonic Measurement
Nagano, Japan, 10th June 2026 – Hioki E.E. Corporation today announced the release of PW9006 IEC Harmonics/Flicker Measurement Option, an optional license for the PW4001 Power Analyzer launched in 2025. The license adds harmonics, interharmonics, and flicker measurement functions compliant with IEC 61000-4-7 and IEC 61000-4-15.
Role of Standards-Compliant Measurement in Product Certification and Market Access
Modern electrical and electronic equipment can introduce harmonics and voltage fluctuations, known as flicker, into public low-voltage distribution networks, and compliance with related standards is required for product certification and market entry.
In harmonics and flicker measurement, using methods that conform to the relevant standards is essential to ensuring product reliability and to streamlining certification and time-to-market.
This optional license enables measurement of harmonics, interharmonics, and flicker in accordance with the measurement method standards IEC 61000-4-7(*1) and IEC 61000-4-15(*2). The resulting measurement data can be used to evaluate compliance with the relevant limit standards.
- *1:IEC 61000-3-2 and IEC 61000-3-12 specify limits for harmonic currents emitted by equipment. IEC 61000-4-7 defines the measurement methods required to assess compliance with these harmonic current limit standards.
- *2:IEC 61000-3-3 and IEC 61000-3-11 specify limits for voltage fluctuations and flicker produced by equipment. IEC 61000-4-15 defines the measurement methods required to assess compliance with these flicker limit standards.
Overview of the IEC-Compliant Harmonics/Flicker Measurement License
By applying this license, users can add IEC 61000-4-7 and IEC 61000-4-15 compliant harmonics, interharmonics, and flicker measurement functions to the existing PW4001 Power Analyzer.
This enhancement enables engineers in industrial equipment, consumer electronics, household appliances, and automotive-related fields to obtain reliable harmonics and flicker measurement data based on international standards for use in R&D and compliance evaluation.
Primary Use Cases
- Acquire harmonics and flicker measurement data using methods compliant with IEC 61000-4-7 and IEC 61000-4-15, for assessing conformity with IEC 61000-3-2/-3-12 harmonic current limits and IEC 61000-3-3/-3-11 voltage fluctuation/flicker limits.
- Conduct harmonics and flicker measurement during development and design of industrial equipment, consumer appliances, electronic devices, and automotive-related systems.
- Obtain data for certification applications and submissions to third-party testing and assessment bodies.
- Perform standards-based evaluations for product quality improvement and technical data management.
Key Features of the Optional License
- Adds IEC 61000-4-7- and IEC 61000-4-15-compliant compliant harmonics, interharmonics, and flicker measurement functions to the PW4001 Power Analyzer.
- Leverages the PW4001’s high-accuracy power measurement performance to streamline R&D and evaluation testing.
- Available in two formats: a shipped license card that includes the license code for feature activation, and a digital license with the license code issued after online purchase. Both can be easily applied to existing PW4001 units
