Hioki has implemented a wide range of sustainability initiatives aimed at contributing to a sustainable society.

Environment

Since 1988, Hioki has hosted employee-led tree planting festivals as part of regional greening activities. In 1997, the company acquired ISO 14001 certification, further strengthening its environmental management system. Over the years, Hioki has expanded its efforts internationally, including a vegetation restoration project in Kenya.
In 2022, Hioki established the Sustainability Basic Policy and the Hioki Sustainability Declaration, setting ambitious carbon-neutral goals. The company is committed to achieving Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon neutrality by 2025, coinciding with its 90th anniversary, and Scope 3 carbon neutrality by 2035, coinciding with its 100th anniversary. To achieve these milestones, Hioki has promoted internal initiatives to reduce emissions and achieved investment-based carbon neutrality in fiscal year 2024 by utilizing forest credits and non-fossil certificates. Furthermore, in 2025, Hioki implemented internal carbon pricing, establishing a framework for effective investment decisions that support a sustainable society.

Labor & Human Rights

Hioki values diversity and fosters an inclusive environment where every individual can thrive, guided by the corporate philosophy of Respect for Humanity. The company promotes workplace initiatives that empower employees of all ages, genders, nationalities, and lifestyles. In recognition of its efforts, Hioki was certified as a Health & Productivity Management Organization in 2024.
Hioki also emphasizes improving labor conditions and employee satisfaction. The company was recognized as one of the Best Companies in the 2021 edition of Great Place to Work in Japan and has been certified as a Great Place to Work for five consecutive years through 2025. To strengthen corporate governance, Hioki appointed external directors to comprise the majority of its board in 2025, establishing a transparent management structure. The company also expressed support for the TCFD (Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures) and TNFD (Task Force on Nature-Related Financial Disclosures), actively disclosing information related to climate change and natural capital.

Sustainable Procurement

Hioki is committed to eco-friendly procurement practices. In 2022, the company revised its Procurement Basic Policy to emphasize building mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers and established the Green Procurement Guidelines to promote the use of environmentally friendly materials.
In 2025, Hioki set specific procurement goals aligned with the realization of a circular economy and has been actively advancing initiatives that contribute to a sustainable society.
