Hioki Launches AC/DC Clamp Meter CM4372 and CM4374

Instruments Support Data Storage and Report Generation on Smartphones and Tablets

February 19, 2016 - Nagano, Japan

Hioki is pleased to announce the launch of the AC/DC Clamp Meter CM4372 and CM4374.

The new products provide connectivity with smartphones and tablets by adding Bluetooth communications functionality to the CM4371 and CM4373, which were launched in September 2015 as rugged clamp-on meters designed to let professionals do their jobs quickly under a broad range of conditions.

In addition to automatically detecting the type of current being measured (AC or DC), the new instruments allow measurement data acquired with convenient functions such as inrush (surge current) measurement to be saved on smartphones and tablets using an app that can also log data and generate reports.

Principal Applications
Maintenance inspections of electrical equipment and solar power systems
Development, repair, and maintenance of electric vehicles and other products

Product Features
1. Smartphone app (GENNECT Cross) with support for both Android™ and iOS
Users can download an app to use with the CM4372 and CM4374 from Google Play™ or the App Store®. The app can be used with Android™ smartphones as well as Apple’s iPhone®, iPad®, iPad Mini™, iPad Pro™, and iPod Touch®.
*Hioki plans to release an iOS version of the app in early March 2016.

2. Logging of data from up to 8 connected CM4372/CM4374 instruments (logging of up to 8 measured values)
One smartphone can log data from up to eight clamp-on meters. The user can select which data to log from the instrument (including current, voltage, resistance, capacitance, and temperature values).

3. Waveform monitor function
For current and voltage measurement, the user can review both measured values and the acquired waveform on a smartphone at the same time.
*When using this functionality, the app can connect to one clamp-on meter.

4. Downloadable inrush (surge) current waveform
Inrush waveforms are stored in the clamp-on meter’s internal memory and can be downloaded to a smartphone.
*When using this functionality, the app can connect to one clamp-on meter.

5. Hold and save function
This function simplifies the process of saving measurement data by automatically sending measured values that are held on the clamp-on meter to a connected smartphone.

6. Report generation
The app makes it easy to generate reports by adding time and location information to measurement data that has been stored on the smartphone.
