What is the application for the Impulse Winding Tester ST4030A?

The ST4030A is used to detect poor insulation between windings (turn-to-turn shorts) of motor stators and coils.
The waveform when applying the impulse signal to a good sample is set as the reference or standard.  Then, the area of measured waveform is compared to the reference to judge pass/fail.
The impulse response waveform shape changes in response to the L (inductance) and R (resistance) differences if there is a turn-to-turn short.
