How do I check for poor contact during resistance measurement?

QHow can I check for poor contact or verify the contact condition during resistance measurement?

A

Resistance meters are equipped with a contact check function to detect poor contact between the measurement target and probes, as well as open or broken measurement cables.
This function is available on the following Hioki resistance meters: RM3545, RM3545A, and RM3546.

The instrument continuously applies a 0–5 V AC signal at 100 kHz between each pair of terminals—SOURCE A and SENSE A, and SOURCE B and SENSE B—and checks that the resistance is approximately 50 Ω or less. If the resistance exceeds approx. 50 Ω, the instrument determines that a contact error has occurred.
