Hioki Launches Slurry Analytical Software SA2634 Enabling Quantitative Evaluation of Electronic Conductivity in LIB Electrode Slurry
Nagano, Japan, 6th October 2025 – Hioki E.E. Corporation is proud to announce the launch of the “Analytical Software SA2634” for quantitative evaluation of electronic conductivity in lithium-ion battery (LIB) electrode slurry within a short time. This software calculates three key indicators from the measured impedance values: DCR (total DC resistance of slurry), Rratio (Proportion of DCR attributable to the conductive additive), and Uniformity (the consistency of conductive additive dispersion). By providing quantitative evaluation using these indicators, the software streamlines R&D and ensures consistent quality control throughout the manufacturing process.
Development Background
- Slurry and Electrode sheets
As the world moves toward a carbon-neutral society, electric vehicles (EVs) powered by lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and stationary energy storage systems (ESS) that harness renewable energy are seeing widespread adoption worldwide. With this market expansion, the demand for higher performance and improved safety in LIBs continues to grow. Hioki has long been recognized as a leader in battery internal impedance measurement technology, earning strong recognition from the industry. In 2019, the Electrode Resistance Measurement System RM2610 was launched, supporting the evaluation of electrode sheets—critical components of battery cells—and providing unique value to the development process.
Electrode sheets are produced by coating metal foil with electrode slurry, followed by drying and calendaring. Variations in the electronic conductivity of the slurry coated across the electrode sheet can cause output degradation and heat generation, directly impacting the performance of the finished battery. One critical factor in reducing variability is the electronic conductivity of the liquid slurry prior to coating. However, until now, there has been no practical indicator that readily represents the slurry conductivity in that state.
In response, Hioki has developed new evaluation indicators that quantify slurry electronic conductivity and enable objective assessment. The newly launched software derives three indicators—DCR / Rratio / Uniformity—from parameters obtained via equivalent-circuit analysis of impedance values. In internal validation tests (using slurries of identical composition with varied mixing processes), we confirmed that electrode sheets fabricated from slurries scoring well on these three indicators tended to exhibit lower and more stable resistive characteristics.
By providing quantitative indicators for slurry evaluation, this method enables researchers and manufacturers to pinpoint optimization opportunities in complex material formulations and mixing conditions. These indicators can be applied in LIB research and development, for quality reproducibility during scale-up, and for quality control on mass-production lines.

The Analytical Software SA2634 offers an integrated workflow from measurement to analysis, improving efficiency and ensuring data security while providing three key indicators for electrode slurry R&D. By supporting more efficient development of LIB electrode sheets, Hioki’s Analytical Software SA2634 contributes to advancing a low-carbon society and building a sustainable future.
Key Features
1. Evaluation in Small Quantities and Under Real-World Conditions
Assess cathode/anode slurries, conductive pastes, or CNT dispersions with as little as 1 mL—no pretreatment required. This efficiency accelerates your research by enabling rapid hypothesis testing and verification, minimizing waste while delivering reliable results on dispersion and conductive networks.
2. Impedance Measurement
The dedicated electrode cell and test fixture minimize measurement noise for highly reproducible impedance data. SA2634-controlled sweeps take about one minute, capturing slurry state with minimal change during analysis—ideal for dynamic materials in battery research.
3. Equivalent-circuit Analysis
SA2634 automates complex equivalent circuit creation and initial value setting, handling up to 1000 files at once. This streamlines batch processing for efficient comparisons, turning raw impedance data into meaningful evaluations without deep expertise in analysis techniques.
4. Quantitative Indexing
The three indicators, "DCR," "Rratio," and "Uniformity," are derived from the analysis results. These indicators enable quantitative evaluation and also function as a common language between departments and partner companies.
