Hioki Launches Clamp On Power Logger PW3360-20

Compact, Easy-to-Operate Power Logger Ideal for Energy Saving Measures

Nagano, Japan

HIOKI E.E. CORPORATION is pleased to announce the launch of the Clamp On Power Logger PW3360-20. With power-saving initiatives underway in Japan and around the world, HIOKI recognized the growing need for instruments that can be used to maintain electrical equipment and measure energy savings, leading the company to develop the Clamp On Power Logger PW3360-20.

Despite its compact design, the PW3360-20 can record power variations over extended periods of time. An optional SD memory card can be used to record up to one year of measurements at one-minute intervals, providing a useful source of data for verifying energy-saving benefits. Additionally, its broad operating temperature range of -10C to 50C, which exceeds that of previous HIOKI devices (0C to 40C), enables measurement in harsh environments.

The built-in Quick Set navigation feature allows users to start measurement by following a series of step-by-step instructions that walk them through configuring the instrument, making connections, checking connections, and starting recording. In this way, the instrument is able to assist in preventing erroneous settings and connections.

Furthermore, an optional clamp leak sensor can be used with the PW3360-20 to measure leak current, and if a clamp leak sensor is used in combination with a power measurement clamp sensor, the instrument can measure power and test for electricity leaks at the same time. Thanks to this expanded range of applications, the new device is poised to fully meet customer needs.

ADVANCED FEATURES
1. Extensive measurement capabilities in a compact package
The PW3360-20 is 43% smaller by volume than similar HIOKI power meters currently in its product line (Model 3169) yet it is capable of recording power variations over extended periods of time despite its compact size. Used with a genuine HIOKI SD card, it can record up to one year of measurements at one-minute intervals. It is designed primarily for use in applications involving the verification of energy-saving results.

The instrument’s compact size allows it to be installed in confined spaces inside electrical panels, and its broad operating temperature range of -10C to 50C enables measurement in harsh environments. It can measure systems ranging from single-phase lines to three-phase/four-wire, 400 V lines.

2. Quick Set navigator, a feature designed to help prevent measurement mistakes
To measure power at a high level of reliability, it is necessary to properly configure settings and connect the instrument to the circuit being measured. The PW3360-20’s Quick Set function provides instructions for configuring settings, connecting the instrument, checking connections, and starting recording, all in a series of easy-to-understand steps. In this way, the instrument eliminates mistaken settings and connections and offers robust support for reliable measurement. The ability to display color-coded three-phase connection and vector diagrams on its color display makes it easy to visualize the measurement circuit at a glance.

3. Leak current measurement and pulse input for expanded capabilities
Used with an optional clamp leak sensor, Model PW3360-20 can also be used to measure leak current. If a clamp leak sensor is used in combination with a power measurement clamp sensor, the power logger can record power and test for electricity leaks at the same time. In addition, to support energy-saving programs at manufacturing plants, power consumption per unit of production is managed based on production volume and power data; the PW3360-20 accepts pulse input for tracking production volume count information, allowing it to simultaneously record power and pulse count data.

4. Continuous operation, even in settings where AC power is unavailable
When making measurements in a setting such as an electrical substation, AC power may not be available. By using the optional PW9002 Battery Set, the PW3360-20 can operate on battery power for approximately eight hours. Additionally, the PW9003 Power Supply Adapter can be used to draw power from the measurement lines, facilitating continuous power measurement.
