HIOKI Launches the Power Meter PW3336 and PW3337 for the Development and Manufacture of Electronic and Industrial Equipment

3-Phase AC/DC Digital Power Meters Deliver High Precision Direct Measurement up to 1000V/65A and Current Probe Testing up to 5000A

HIOKI E.E. CORPORATION is pleased to announce the launch of two new Power Meters Models PW3336 and PW3337.

Manufacturers of consumer electronics such as household appliances and audiovisual devices as well as industrial equipment such as servers, machine tools and large air-conditioning systems are competing to the improve energy-saving performance of their products. This drive toward energy efficiency demands power measuring equipment with a high degree of measurement precision for use in assessing energy savings, power consumption, and energy efficiency. Similar needs are present in power research in which engineers evaluate the characteristics of the electrical circuits in motors, inverters, power conditioners, and other energy-saving devices in efforts to lower power consumption. HIOKI’s two-channel PW3336 and three-channel PW3337 three-phase AC/DC digital power meters were developed in response to these stringent needs.

Both Hioki digital power measuring devices can take direct-input measurements of large currents of up to 65A while maintaining measurement accuracy of 0.15%. Used with an optional clamp sensor, the power meters can also measure up to 5000A AC. In addition to built-in harmonic analysis functionality, the PW3336 and PW3337 Power Meters provide GP-IB, LAN, D/A output and other interfaces to better accommodate a variety of testing situations.

Features of the Power Meter PW3336 and PW3337
1. Directly input large currents up to 65A
The new digital power meters can directly accept and make high precision measurements of currents as high as 65A while maintaining 0.15% measurement accuracy.

In recent years, development of industrial equipment and household electronics supported by the two new power meters has fueled demand for high-precision measurement capability to verify the increasing energy-saving benefits of equipment designed to deliver ever-higher levels of efficiency. By using the Hioki PW3336 and PW3337 digital power meters, engineers can meet this need for high accuracy results.

2. Measure large currents up 5000A AC when used with a flexible clamp sensor
Used in conjunction with an optional clamp sensor, the PW3336 and PW3337 can measure large alternating currents of up to 5000A. This capability is especially useful in evaluating the power characteristics of inverters, motors, and similar equipment, an area where the ability to measure high currents is essential.

3. Harmonic analysis
Since both power meters ship standard with harmonic analysis functionality, there is no need to purchase additional options to achieve this capability.

Harmonic analysis targets high-frequency components other than commercial frequencies (50 Hz or 60 Hz). When present, harmonic components distort voltage and current waveforms, inviting equipment malfunctions and other issues. Consequently, there is an extremely high level of need for harmonic analysis in the development of electrical equipment.

4. GP-IB, LAN, and other interfaces
The Power Meters PW3336 and PW3337 are available with GP-IB, D/A output, RS-232C, and LAN interfaces, allowing customers to choose the power measuring device that best meets the needs of their applications.
