Environmental Activities and Contribution to Society

Activities to Alleviate Environmental Impact
In implementing our business activities, namely the development, manufacture and sales of electrical measurement instruments, we exercise strict control both over the input side by reducing the use of energy and raw materials, and the output side, by reducing carbon dioxide emissions and waste. We enforce this not only on a company scale but also in coordination with local bodies such as the Environment Protection Council of Nagano Prefecture. Maintaining a sound environmental input/output balance is of major importance to us.
Contributing to the Community
While HIOKI contributes to society through our offering of electrical measurement instruments, as a member of the local community, we also support activities to preserve the environment and develop local culture and education. Our Hometown Afforestation program that began tree planting with local schoolchildren in 1995 has resulted in over 37,000 trees being planted by 2007. Meanwhile, well over a hundred Little League Baseball children have matured playing on the HIOKI baseball field. We have also developed community participation activities such as the Forest Hills Scholarship to foster the development of new engineers, and the HIOKI Festival in which we open our company grounds to the local community. These tree-planting and scholarship activities have been managed by the HIOKI Scholarship and Greening Foundation, established in September 2005.
