We regret to inform you that a mechanical problem, detailed below, has been found in Clamp On Power HiTESTER 3169/-01 (domestic versions) and 3169-20/-21 (export versions). In order to ensure your safety and to prevent the rise of any industrial accidents that may occur, we kindly ask you to contact your local HIOKI authorized distributor to obtain servicing as quickly as possible. We sincerely apologize for all inconveniences caused, and thank you for your kind understanding and cooperation. 1. Nature of Problem It has been found that a small metal plate mounted in the instrument, if loosened due to strong impact or accidental drop of the instrument, and is caught in a particular crevice inside the unit, may cause a short circuit under normal usage. This can subsequently damage the instrument and possibly even short circuit the lines under test or the power supply line. 2. Affected Units Clamp On Power HiTESTER 3169 Clamp On Power HiTESTER 3169-01 Clamp On Power HiTESTER 3169-20 Clamp On Power HiTESTER 3169-21 With serial number 020502810 to 060417825 (all units manufactured from May 2002 to mid-April 2006) EXCEPT:Model 3169-20 with serial number 060411336 to 060411340 and 060413232 to 060413236 If you are using one or more of the models in the 3169 series bearing such a serial number, please contact the HIOKI authorized distributor or reseller from whom you purchased the unit(s) as soon as possible. Countermeasure Our authorized distributor will remove the metal suction plate from the affected units and mark all serviced instruments with the Service Label [3169A077]. Please note that the removing the plate will not affect the measurement capabilities or calibrated values of the instrument in any way.
