HIOKI E.E. CORPORATION has developed the new AC/DC CURRENT SENSOR 9709 to meet the demands of high accuracy, high precision measurement applications. The hybrid vehicle and fuel cell markets have been growing rapidly in recent years. To evaluate the performance of products under development, it is necessary to be able to accurately measure current and power. The AC/DC CURRENT SENSOR 9709 is ideal for such an application.
Product Overview
Recently, the development of hybrid vehicles and fuel cells has been accelerating year after year. From the perspective of energy saving, technology development is carried out with focus on higher efficiency and performance. Under these circumstances, high performance has also been required for measurement equipment used for evaluation. The AC/DC CURRENT SENSOR 9709 meets these requirements perfectly.
Primary Features
1.  High-current measurement
Since the 9709 is capable of measuring high currents up to 500 A AC/DC, it can be used to measure the high currents of hybrid vehicle drive motors or batteries.
2.  Wide frequency range, DC to100 kHz
The 9709 is capable of measuring distorted waveforms on the secondary side of the inverter. Since phase accuracy is specified in addition to amplitude accuracy, the 9709 can be used in conjunction with an electronic power meter to accurately measure effective currents in a wide frequency range.
3.  Minimum magnetic interference
Conventional products always needed to be demagnetized (offset cancel) before measuring a small current, because offset signals remained due to the magnetization effect after measuring a high DC current. Because the 9709 is subject to minimum magnetization effect, it does not need to be demagnetized. Even if a small battery charge-and-discharge current and a high current need to be measured with the same measuring equipment, accurate measurement can be performed.
4.  Minimum conductor interference
Since conventional products were subject to changes in sensitivity due to wiring location, they needed extra work such as securing the center of wiring to ensure accurate measurement. However, the 9709 is subject to only minimum changes in sensitivity caused by conductor location, so it is not necessary to pay attention to wiring location.
5.  Minimum external magnetic field interference
Since the 9709 is not affected by interference from a magnetic field of another adjacent current line, it can even be placed in a location crowded with wires without worrying about measurement accuracy.
6.  High stability in a wide range of temperatures
The 9709 can be used in a wide range of temperatures from 0°C to 50°C. It is capable of accurate measurement for a wide variety of applications including environmental testing.
7.  Voltage output
Measured signals are output as easy-to-use voltage signals.
8.  CATIII 1000 V safety rating
The 9709 is capable of safe measurement for an internal voltage line in a high-voltage inverter.
