| HIOKI E.E. CORPORATION will be releasing a new analog insulation tester for general testing of both the insulation and continuity of residential and industrial installations. Model 3490 ANALOG MΩ HiTESTER will offer solid and reliable testing of the three most common insulation testing ranges plus the continuity measurement function, all in one convenient unit that features our popular sliding cover design that lets you store the test leads in the case while they are still connected to the terminals, dramatically increase work efficiency. Compatibility to the IEC61557-1/-2/-4 International Standard makes the 3490 ideal for official inspections of the electrical integrity of installations during construction and maintenance. |

- Functional All-in-one Unit Complete with Sliding Cover and Test Leads Storage
The sliding cover system with wide compartment for storing the test leads without needing to disconnect them lets you start the testing as soon as you open the cover, and makes cleaning up a snap.
- Luminous Scale
A super-bright white LED strategically positioned at the bottom-right corner of the window lights up the entire scale for a clear and easy view in dark locations, comparative to viewing the scale in broad daylight.
- Test with a Simple Touch of the Switch on the LED-embedded Test Lead
By pairing the 3490 with the optional 9788 TEST LEAD WITH REMOTE CONTROL SWITCH, you can streamline testing procedures and save time by operating the analog insulation tester straight from the probe. A bright red LED on the test lead safely signals that the measure key is being pressed, and a bright white LED at the tip of the probe, powered by the 3490, allows the technician to pinpoint the exact measurement location, ideal for situations where electricity and lighting are limited.
- Extended Test Pins
The standard test probes are designed with a long 35mm tip allowing you to test almost all terminals without needing to remove the breaker covers. Except for the 16mm long conductive area from the pin tip, the length of the tip is covered with an ABS resin to protect from short-circuits. The thin diameter also allows you to get in and out of power outlets smoothly and effortlessly.
- 3 Insulation Resistance Ranges
With 250V/500V/1000V ranges to choose from, a wide assortment of applications ranging from inspection of low voltage distribution systems to testing of motors, transformers and cables can be answered. Furthermore, the ability to measure up to 4000MΩ at the 1000V range lets you verify the insulation integrity of DUTs that require high insulation characteristics.
- Crystal Clear Analog Scale
Using one scale for both the 250V and 500V insulation resistance ranges minimizes the number of lines on the entire scale and contributes to an uncluttered look. In addition, positioning these two most common test ranges at the top of the window makes for easy identification of the insulation level, represented on the scale by their actual values, of course, so there is no need to do time-consuming calculations. Moreover, the 0Ω positions of both the insulation resistance and low resistance testing ranges have been placed on the same side of the window, helping to avoid reading mistakes.
- Continuity Testing According to International Standards
The 3Ω range fully complies with the requirements stipulated in the IEC60364-6-61 standard for verifying the integrity of electrical installations under the umbrella of the IEC61557 International Standard for electrical measuring instruments, enabling the technician to use the 3490 for inspecting the resistance of earth connections and equipotential bonding.
- 30Ω Range Ideal for Wiring Inspection of General Power Outlets
Engineered with a linear scale, testing for the correct wiring of GPO's in accordance with the AS/NZ3017 guidelines required by the Oceania region is simple and effective.
- Battery Power Constantly Monitored
Sufficient voltage level of the four AA (LR6) batteries can be identified by the on-board LED, which also signals when the battery power has been fully consumed during testing. Green means GO for high battery voltage, red refers to low battery levels, and an unlit LED warns of insufficient battery power to conduct further tests. Without the need to do a separate battery check before and even during testing, work efficiency dramatically improves.
- Wide Operational Temperature Range
With a 0 to 50°C range, a notch above competitors, the 3490 has been designed to retain accuracy and reliability even in extremely warm weather conditions.
- Quality Meter Made in Japan
The taut band meter movement fine-tuned by years of Japanese precision engineering makes it tough to damage the 3490 even from a drop of 1 meter to the ground. |
